Our program is a competency based one, so the first step is having your child assessed by one of our team. You can contact us to arrange a free grading with one of our friendly coaches before or after classes start each day - it only takes a few minutes.
Once your child has been graded, our admin team will email you instructions detailing how to book through our online parent portal.
Details regarding costs and lesson times at each pool can be found under the locations tab at the top of this page.
-
We swim all year round, however our lessons are split into blocks which are inline with the school terms! For more detailed information please visit the location tab at the top of this page for detailed timetables, term and holiday swimming dates.
-
Absolutely! We offer holiday ‘Stroke and Skill’ Intensives which are great way to accelerate your child’s progress, boost their swimming skills, and keep them active over the holiday break. Information is usually sent out via email, and bookings can be made via your portal.
We also offer one-off dive clinics and free lessons throughout the year to help keep your kids engaged and focused around school swimming carnival time.
-
We understand that life happens, which is why our lessons are run on a term by term basis (usually in blocks of 10 weeks). If you would like to join in after the start of term we can easily pro rata your invoice for you. We have optional holiday intensive lessons over the holidays too!
If you would like to join our adult squad you can purchase a casual or monthly pass by emailing swim@theswimacademy.com.au.
-
Learn to swim lessons are $21 each, and squad sessions are $21 each.
We also offer a discount for your child’s second lesson per week. Please refer to our individual location pages for more details.
We want to give everyone the opportunity to learn to swim and we understand having a large family can be costly, so we provide additional discounts when more than two children enrol – we offer a 50% third and subsequent child discount.
-
Please note that once you have made a booking you cannot change it at your end. If you need to change a booking please send us an email and we will amend it for you.
-
You’re welcome to email us at swim@theswimacademy.com.au requesting a “password reset” and we will email you a link to your portal.
If you’re new, you won’t be able to access the portal straight away. We’ll need to organise a grading for your swimmers first.
-
All bookings are non-refundable. We try and be as flexible as possible by offering term by term bookings (as opposed to lock-in year round contracts) and allow people to change their days/times as needed to accommodate changes in schedule.
-
If you can’t make a class – for whatever reason – you are welcome to notify an absence via your portal and book a make-up if one is available. There is no need to notify us by phone or email.
Please note that all makeups must be taken by the end of the term or date range. If you are absent you can ONLY book makeups through the portal. To be effective you must notify us of your absence at least 1 hour before the class starts as this allows others to book into the spot for makeup purposes.
How to book a make-up through the portal:
1. Log into your portal
2. Go to “Classes” and select “Notify Absences” from the drop down in left-hand menu
3. Select the date you are going to be absent from the “Notify Absences” screen – note that if the session is more than 3 weeks in advance you need to click on “View Sessions” icon and find the relevant session.
4. Then go back to “Book Make-ups” from the left-hand menu
5. All available classes for makeups at your child current level will then appear
6. “Add to cart”
7. “Checkout”
-
In an effort to be sensitive to the pressures of busy family life we offer 3 makeups per swimmer per term.
All make-ups must be taken in the same term as the missed lesson.
Make-ups are subject to availability and if you cannot book a makeup because all suitable classes are otherwise full the make-up will be forfeited.
Any unbooked makeups at the end of the term are forfeited and are not refunded.
Please note that we do not permit accrued makeups to be carried from one term to the next. It's our policy and we apply it without exception.
-
Our program is a competency based one, and our coaches are constantly assessing your swimmer against our progression milestones. Once your child is ready to progress you will receive an email from us with a certificate and further instructions - no need to wait until the end of term.
We also send out electronic progression reports each term for all our stroke development and squad swimmers - so you can always track your child’s progress through our program.
-
The safety of your children and our staff is paramount but as a general rule we do not cancel lessons or training simply because it is raining. If the rain is accompanied by strong or severe winds or lightning is present then lessons/training will not proceed – we will always make a timely call and attempt to contact you by email.
If the weather hits in the course of lessons/training we will manage it as necessary – but always conservatively. If lightning is present then swimmers will be immediately removed from the pool - they will not be allowed back in the pool until 30 minutes after the lightning has ceased. Please note that if your kids are removed from the pool they will be looked after and supervised by our staff until you collect them - they would never be left alone under any circumstances.
In any event the call is always yours. If at any time you feel uncomfortable with the weather feel free to make your own call.
If we call it off we will note the roll accordingly and you will be able to book a make up where there are available classes.
If you decide not to come you will need to go in and notify the absence prior to the non attendance and book a makeup.

The Swim Academy is also an affiliated Swimming Queensland club. We use TeamApp to keep all our families up to date with upcoming meets and events.
We also host fortnightly “Academy Nights” during Term 1 and 4 at the Stuartholme pool to give swimmers an opportunity to show off their speed and skills, in a relaxed and fun environment.
We also have a Swimming Queensland affiliated club for those wanting to compete at external meets.
Some of our locations also have active swimming clubs:
Ashgrove Aces
Ithaca Sharx
-
We have a swimming club which is registered with Swimming Qld. It is called The Swim Academy – Brisbane and we currently have a large number of swimmers who have joined the club to swim at external competitions. If this is of any interest, please contact Head Coach Peter Rosengren.
-
We are often on the pool deck coaching and have a no phones policy. If you haven’t heard back from us within 24 hours, please send an email, or fill out an enquiry form here.
